About Claudia

Here’s the potted biography – I’ll keep it brief…

I gave up an office job 20 years ago and moved on board a small boat in an attempt to make a living as an artist, which was financially perilous but great fun.  Later, no longer a single boat chick but married with child, volvo and multiple dinghies, I lived in Burnham on Crouch , a great place for both small ships and friendships.    My style of painting was evolving from straight landscapes and marine paintings to cartoons and more illustrative stuff.  I came up with the idea of designing and publishing the Log Book for Children just before moving to Pembrokeshire in 2004.  This led to being commissioned by the RYA to write and illustrate the Go Sailing series of children’s books, which have kept me pretty much pinned to the drawing board ever since, with occasional time off for good behaviour and sketching on the amazing Pembrokeshire coast.

I’m also kept busy with commissioned cartoons and illustrations including the monthly cartoon for PBO’s Selby column (very funny if you’re not already a regular reader) and regular drawings for the excellent Marine Quarterly amongst others.

When I’m not at the drawing board or keyboard you’ll find me hanging out with nautical writers, artists and photographers, going to traditional boat events,  playing with musicians or paddling up creeks in my coracle.  If I’m really lucky I occasionally get to go sailing rather than just drawing or writing about it!
